Hi
Welcome to the 13th edition of my monthly newsletter (if you would like to see previous editions, please click here)
This month I am going to be focusing on a common challenge I see all the time and this applies whether you run a team or are a business of one...the quiet plateau....
šš»Everythingās⦠fine.
š Youāre getting stuff done and things are ticking along.....
š But it all feels a bit⦠flat.
š”A client recently said to me:
āWeāre not in crisis. But weāve definitely lost momentum.ā
That hit home. Iāve felt that too, both when I was employed and in my own business.
When youāre capable, itās easy to keep going. But if you're not stopping to zoom out, you can hit a quiet plateau, where growth slows, creativity fades, and the spark you started with just isnāt there anymore.
The Plateau That Hides in Plain Sight
Hereās what that can look like:
ā”ļøYou or your team are busy, but not excited
ā”ļøWorks getting done, but the bigger picture feels blurry
ā”ļøYou or your team are stuck in tasks, not strategy
ā”ļøIt's all āfineā⦠but somethingās off
And itās not because youāre doing anything wrong.
Itās just that youāve outgrown the mode youāre operating in.
Hereās how different colour energies might experience this plateau:
š“ Fiery Red ā Frustrated by the lack of momentum, but pushes harder instead of pausing
š” Sunshine Yellow ā Starts losing enthusiasm and seeking energy elsewhere
š¢ Earth Green ā Quietly notices somethingās off, but avoids rocking the boat
šµ Cool Blue ā Focuses on tasks and avoids the bigger picture
Understanding your preferences is a brilliant starting point for shifting things, whether thatās in your team or in the way you lead yourself.
What have I been up to in April?
In the same month that John Korir of Kenya wins the Boston Marathon's men's division with time of 2:04:45 and Sharon Lokedi of Kenya wins the women's competition with a new course record time of 2:17:22...
