The Quiet Plateau

Hi

Welcome to the 13th edition of my monthly newsletter (if you would like to see previous editions, please click here)

This month I am going to be focusing on a common challenge I see all the time and this applies whether you run a team or are a business of one...the quiet plateau....

šŸ‘šŸ»Everything’s… fine.

šŸ“‹ You’re getting stuff done and things are ticking along.....

😐 But it all feels a bit… flat.

šŸ’”A client recently said to me:

ā€œWe’re not in crisis. But we’ve definitely lost momentum.ā€

That hit home. I’ve felt that too, both when I was employed and in my own business.

When you’re capable, it’s easy to keep going. But if you're not stopping to zoom out, you can hit a quiet plateau, where growth slows, creativity fades, and the spark you started with just isn’t there anymore.

The Plateau That Hides in Plain Sight

Here’s what that can look like:

āž”ļøYou or your team are busy, but not excited

āž”ļøWorks getting done, but the bigger picture feels blurry

āž”ļøYou or your team are stuck in tasks, not strategy

āž”ļøIt's all ā€œfineā€ā€¦ but something’s off

And it’s not because you’re doing anything wrong.

It’s just that you’ve outgrown the mode you’re operating in.

Here’s how different colour energies might experience this plateau:

šŸ”“ Fiery Red – Frustrated by the lack of momentum, but pushes harder instead of pausing

🟔 Sunshine Yellow – Starts losing enthusiasm and seeking energy elsewhere

🟢 Earth Green – Quietly notices something’s off, but avoids rocking the boat

šŸ”µ Cool Blue – Focuses on tasks and avoids the bigger picture

Understanding your preferences is a brilliant starting point for shifting things, whether that’s in your team or in the way you lead yourself.

What have I been up to in April?

In the same month that John Korir of Kenya wins the Boston Marathon's men's division with time of 2:04:45 and Sharon Lokedi of Kenya wins the women's competition with a new course record time of 2:17:22...

I’ve been:

āœ”ļøCelebrating my Birthday šŸŽ‚šŸŽˆšŸŽ‰šŸ„³

āœ”ļøDelivering Team Effectiveness workshops

āœ”ļøAttending Black Belt Bootcamp in preparation for attempting my blackbelt in kickboxing in October this year

āœ”ļøAttending Cheshire food and drink festival at the racecourse during the Easter Holidays with family

āœ”ļøWorking on data analyses from a survey sent out to one of my clients and their business to understand the challenges on the front line and how I can help them.

āœ”ļøAttending Laura Teare-Jones vision and values workshop and really digging down deep into what my personal values are - Freedom, Belonging, Acceptance, Inclusion and Contribution - what do you think? does that come across?

āœ”ļøCreating the Insightful Collective - A private unlisted group on LinkedIN for individuals who are interested in understanding more about behavioural styles, mindset, growth and a safe space to have open conversations and learn and develop. If you are interested in joining, just drop me a reply or message me on Linked In

āœ”ļøDelivering a light touch behavioural styles session where individuals got to understand what their dominant behavioural style was and how that can impact interactions without them even realising it, for the Grow Her Business Group run by Elaine Atherton and Judith Hamilton, a community for women who lift each other up.

āœ”ļøSharing a case study on LinkedIN of how I worked with a nutritionist and the results achieved - to read the case study click here

āœ”ļøBeing nominated for 'New Advocate of the Year' in my NetworkIN group

Final Thought

Whether you lead a team or just yourself , it’s easy to slip into ā€œdoingā€ mode and forget to check in with how things feel.

šŸ’”If something’s felt a bit stuck lately, it’s not a failure. It’s a nudge to pause, reflect, and refocus.

I’d love to hear from you, has your growth ever stalled quietly like this ?

What helped you move forward again?

Just hit reply if you fancy sharing.

Take care out there
