Hi

Welcome to the 10th edition of my Newsletter.

This month the focus is on being kind to yourself. When we are not feeling ourselves our instinct is often to push through - keeping busy, ticking off the to-do list, and ignoring how we really feel. We convince ourselves that slowing down isn’t an option.

In this edition , I’m sharing my own experience of choosing self-compassion over pressure, along with practical ways to be kind to yourself using the Insights Discovery behavioural styles (colour energies).

Its OK not to be OK

I haven’t been feeling myself lately, and for a while, I fought against it pushing myself to show up and keep everything moving.

But I soon realised that this was not working for me and all that was happening was I was falling deeper and deeper into self-criticism and not feeling good enough.

At my lowest I knew that I couldn't keep going like this and that I needed to give myself the same advice that I would give anyone else who was feeling the same way.....Be kind to yourself

So, I gave myself permission to stop.... stop putting pressure on myself to do everything and be everything. Because the truth is, everything will still be there in a couple of weeks. And when I come back to it, I’ll be in a much better place to tackle it.

We can get so caught up in our heads, telling ourselves that if we don’t do something today, it will be a massive disaster. But more often than not, it won’t. Life moves on, and so do we.

Did you know that 80% of our worries never actually end up coming to fruition?

Think of all that energy wasted on what might happen, especially when you’re already struggling just to keep your head above water. When you’re feeling low, conserving your energy is key.

When was the last time you were kind to yourself ? What did that look like for you?

So, what have I been up to in January?

In the same month as 17 year old English darts prodigy Luke Littler became the youngest ever world champion, beating 3-time title winner Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the PDC World Championship final in London and The world's largest religious festival, the Mahakumbh Mela, begins in India. (This festival is held every 12 years for over 400 million people, and this one in 2025 is the grand Kumbh Mela, which only happens every 144 years).

I have not been very busy at all.....

I actually took some time for me and took a break from networking, posting on Linked In and doing anything that made me feel like I was putting myself out there.....because I didn't feel strong enough mentally to allow myself to be vulnerable.

I was kind to myself....

                 🔴🟡🟢🔵Top Tip🔵🟢🟡🔴

So how can you be kind to yourself through the lens of Insights Discovery? Here are some tips for each of the colour energies:

🔴 Fiery Red Energy – Give yourself permission to step away from tasks and recharge. This could be:

  • Delegating a task instead of powering through alone.

  • Setting clear work boundaries (e.g., no emails after a certain time).

  • Taking a power walk or doing a quick workout to reset your focus.

  • Scheduling time to reflect instead of immediately jumping into action.

🟡 Sunshine Yellow Energy – Lean into the energy of connection and joy:

  • Meeting a friend for a coffee break instead of working through lunch.

  • Planning a fun activity, even if it’s something small like dancing to your favourite song.

  • Seeking inspiration from a new environment (e.g., working from a different space).

  • Giving yourself permission to laugh and not take everything so seriously.

🟢 Earth Green EnergyNurture yourself with the same kindness you give others:

  • Taking quiet time for yourself without guilt (e.g., reading, meditating, or journaling).

  • Saying “no” to things that drain you, even if it feels uncomfortable.

  • Asking for support rather than always being the one supporting others.

  • Spending time in nature or creating a calm, comforting space for yourself.

🔵 Cool Blue Energy – Find balance between structure and self-care:

  • Creating a short, realistic to-do list instead of an overwhelming one.

  • Giving yourself permission to pause and think instead of always doing.

  • Setting clear priorities—what truly needs to be done today vs. what can wait.

  • Allowing yourself to switch off (e.g., closing the laptop, turning off notifications).

Taking a break doesn’t mean stopping altogether, it means giving yourself the space to recharge, reset, and come back stronger.

Which of these resonates most with you right now  ?
